Push Notification

A push notification is a short message that can be sent to app users even when said users don’t have their mobile applications open. The messages are displayed on the home screen of the device (even when locked). iOS requires that apps ask permission from users before sending push notifications; Android does not. There are two types. Remote: sent from an external source to the device Local: sent by the app to the device (e.g. a calendar reminder)
